Taiwan Bank Historical Museum Building

The Land Bank Exhibition Hall building served at the Bank’s headquarters following the Second World War. Under Japanese Colonial rule, Nippon Kangyo Bank constructed the building in 1933 to house its Taipei Branch. The three story steel reinforced concrete building features 13 giant round columns closely arranged around its exterior along with heavy walls, which impart a sense of stability and security. The exterior columns, walls, cornice, and parapet all feature a strong western design sensibility, while the interior ceiling incorporates geometric designs from the Art Deco movement resulting in a diverse combination of styles.
